“Forgiving the past is an important step in allowing ourselves the experience of miracles.”  Marianne Williamson

Take a moment today to create a miracle. Ho’Oponopono, the powerful Hawaiian forgiveness prayer, is a wonderful place to start.

    I love you.

    I’m sorry.

    Please forgive me.

    Thank you.

Self-love is attained by embodying the language of the heart; the language of love, peace, appreciation, gratitude, joy, compassion, kindness, affection, and acceptance. The beauty of this is that it is actually the Truth, the essence, of who you are. You are naturally joyful, peaceful and compassionate! Being able to truly embody this energy, know to the core of you that this is who you are, presents the greatest challenge. The question you need to ask yourself is, “Am I willing to join in relationship with the heart and let it create miracles for me? Am I willing to know and live my Truth?”

Embodying the language of the heart becomes so challenging because we have all learned to identify with our personalities or our ego mind– the judgments, resentments, guilt, fears and the long list of “not good enoughs”. This is not the Truth of who you are! It is conditioning, conditioning that can be undone. Choose to stop identifying with the ego mind and start listening to the heart. The heart knows only love, so it also extends love to the ego mind transforming these untruths into Truth. The heart heals, this is the miracle.

Self-love is an inner process, then, where you allow your heart to lead, not your physical heart, but a place right below the heart, the center or core of you. It is here where you connect to the Truth, your essence, your innate intelligence and wisdom.

Can you love it all unconditionally?

Choosing self-love means to embrace everything, even the warts! So let’s take a look at how you can let go of judgment and extend acceptance to those things that don’t seem so lovable.  Something I’m finding very useful in my life is to be completely honest with myself and speak out my self-talk instead of keeping it silent. I pay close attention to my body and if it feels heavy or tense I give it a voice. I might say, “I’m feeling unworthy right now.” Or “I hate my wrinkles!” Or “I’m really afraid I’m going to fail at this.” Accept who you are in the moment and don’t “stuff it” because it doesn’t sound good or you think it’s not spiritual to be “negative”. It is spiritual to be accepting. (In most situations this technique is best used by yourself or with people with whom you feel safe.) Speaking out the truth is very powerful and allows what is hidden to become conscious; what is conscious can be healed. You are human after all and this is all part of having a personality that reacts to what’s happening around you.

    Healing with the heart

Shining the light on the darkness makes the darkness disappear. Take the darkness, the “warts”, to the heart and they will be healed with the energy of love. The moment you allow the heart to transform your perception of the “warts” with its love, compassion, peace and acceptance you have created a miracle.

A beautiful technique that I use often is the “heart ease” technique developed by the Institute of Heartmath.

The moment signs of stress appear or you are feeling shut down speak your truth out loud. Then place your hand over your heart area, close your eyes and breathe gently and smoothly in and out as though you were breathing right from the heart. Imagine that you are breathing in peace, ease, balance and compassion from your heart. Something I add to this is to imagine that whatever the tension or heaviness is, it’s being dissolved into dust by a bright light from the heart. Or I imagine just extending love, peace or compassion to it. When you have reached a place of peacefulness make a heartfelt commitment to anchor and maintain this state of peacefulness. Then return to your activity.

This technique is so simple and powerful you can use it anywhere. The more you do it, the more natural it becomes.

Self love is about life living through you, not life happening to you

Life is always giving you opportunities to awaken to your true nature. Releasing and healing emotions is one of them. Know that emotions, energy in motion, don’t come to stay they come to pass through. Begin to see them as neutral and recognize that they are a signal for something within you, not outside of you, to be healed and released. Be honest, ask, “What is it about my reaction to this situation that might be calling for me to heal something within myself?” Then give it to your heart for a miracle.

    The gift

When you embody the language of the heart you give the beautiful gift of unconditional love to yourself. Your heart opens even wider allowing you to love others unconditionally. Ultimately this opens you to experiencing the rich, full, joyful life that you deserve. Now that’s a miracle!

Is there something personal that you’d like to share with someone you care about and trust, but you just can’t get the words out? Maybe you imagine that if you said it you might be judged. This is very common. However, the miracle occurs when you trust what’s in your heart.

Create a miracle. Take a moment to listen to your heart. Trust the wisdom that is there.

When you allow yourself to truly be seen without judgment from the very soul of another the impact is profound and can alter the course of your life.

    A Miracle is…

Looking your greatest fear in the face and laughing at it!

It is not the fear that stops you, but it is the thought behind the fear that stops you everytime.

“Could anything be simpler than sweeping your own floor? Complications arise only when “thinking” interferes with performance. When you become too conscious of your actions, too careful, you can encounter a kind of ‘nervous’ negative energy.” Gary Thorpe

Today my electric floor sweeper died before I had a chance to finish the job. For some reason as I reached for the “not often used” broom I thought about Sweeping Changes by Gary Thorpe. Throughout the book he emphasizes “being with” your mundane tasks and chores as if they were sacred acts.

So instead of hurrying through this chore to “get it over with” (that “nervous” negative energy) I decided to “be with” the action of sweeping the floor treating it as though it was the most important activity I could be doing in that moment. After all I was doing it with God. Sweeping the floor became a very pleasant experience!
When we choose to see our routine tasks as meaningful we send a message to ourselves that we are valuable and making a valuable contribution. We put the negative spin on chores and we can transcend that thinking, see it differently and experience our very own miracle.

Challenge yourself–choose a task or chore that you always want to rush through and instead let it flow from you, see it as a very important and vital activity to your life, your environment, your family, yourself!

I would love to hear about your experiences!

“I can see peace instead of this” is one of my “well worn” prayers and a lesson from A Course In Miracles. It’s short, sweet and simple. It instantly grounds me in those
moments where life seems to come barreling out of the blue or when it isn’t
going as expected—usually the way I think it’s suppose to go! The”pause” button gets hit and I have a moment to reflect. I am faced with a choice–chaos or peace. It’s not always easy to choose peace, so I’ve made a commitment to practice peace whenever I can. Then I’m ready when “life happens”.

Traffic is a great “peace practice” starter. When held up due to construction or accidents choose peace. Put the lid on fuming, take a deep breath and say a quick prayer, express gratitude (you just received an instant break from the rat race), meditate for a moment or send a blessing to everyone on the road.

When I make a choice to see a less than perfect situation from another perspective and change my behavior or attitude around it, I’ll come out feeling more peaceful every time. Life will never come up short on chaotic moments. Isn’t it wonderful that we can change them in an instant with a few simple words? Now that’s a miracle!

Are you following your heart or is your head leading the way?

Did you know that the heart actually has a very powerful intelligence of its own?
The Institute of HeartMath www.heartmath.com has been
studying the heart and its “power” for many years and has come up with some
    fascinating data. Check it out.

Most of us have been conditioned to listen to our rational mind first then once in
awhile listen to our hearts, but I see all that changing. The heart will start
to take the lead and the rational mind will follow. I have come to understand
this as “whole-heartedness”, our heart and mind working in sync.

When we listen to our heart we’re following our intuition which is another way
Spirit communicates with us. So often we miss these beautiful prompts because
our rational mind gets in the way with more practical information or doubt pops
in. Sound familiar? However, as the world evolves, we will go about our
business and personal interactions living every day listening to the guidance
of Spirit, a guidance that has its origins in love. Imagine it!

There are some things you can do now to listen to your heart more frequently,
strengthen your “intuitive muscles” and begin to trust the prompts. The
messages you receive from your heart can seem odd or impractical and you can
easily put those messages aside and follow the lead of your rational mind
    instead.

The first step is to slow down. Spirit can not get through when you are going
seventy miles an hour! Be mindful, conscious, present, during all your activities
and tasks. Eat, walk and even talk more slowly, more purposefully.

You will always know that your heart is leading because you will feel good. When
making a decision be conscious of how you are feeling. Any heaviness involved
around the decision is not Spirit-lead and is your intuition saying “no”. You
can prepare by understanding how your body feels when you are happy and how it
feels when you are sad, angry, or anxious. That will create your “decision
barometer” and become the major clue for which way to go.

Following your heart will open you up to the miraculous. These are just a couple of
things you can do to get started on opening to amazing experiences in your
life. I also recommend the book The Hidden Power of the Heart by Sara Paddison. It has wonderful exercises and terrific information on opening to your heart.

Let me know how you see your life changing as you pay more attention to the
    messages of your heart.

I love going on “miracle hunts”! To find them, though, you have to adopt a “miracle mindset”.  The first step is to throw out the belief that miracles are always these huge, bigger than life events that only happen to other people, miracle hunts include all miracles. Next you need to open into a place of wonder and curiosity–be a five year old! Then set your intention to find as many miracles as you can wherever you can.

Start your hunt the minute you wake up in the morning. Marvel at the wonder of your eyes opening up! Take a moment to listen to your heart. Isn’t it miraculous that it continues to beat without your control? Continue all throughout your day to be on the lookout for awe-inspiring moments, situations that totally surprise you, unexpected events that lead to new experiences or connections with others. (HINT: Nature is full of miracles!)

You’ll notice that once you start to hunt for miracles how many will come your way, too. It will astound you! How can you have a bad day when you are focused on miracles?

    Wishing you many miracles!
